NATIONAL PRACTICE

With the advent of the Internet and advances in twenty-first century communication technology, law firms have needed to change with the times. These technologies do not have State borders, and therefore, commercial law is often national in scope.
THE LAWMEN INTERNATIONAL has met this challenge. While the firm has office in Bangalore, India, it routinely practices law in a number of other states, as well. It has nearly developed a national practice. For example, the firm has represented clients in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderbad, Bhopal, Gandhinagar, Lucknow, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati and Shillong.
It has been able to do so, based upon the changes that have come about nationally as a result of the recommendations of a Bar Council of India. It advised all the State Bars that they should consider allowing attorneys who are not licensed in their jurisdictions to handle litigation and non-litigation matters under certain circumstances. All the States have adopted this "multi-jurisdictional" rule, and THE LAWMEN INTERNATIONAL has utilized this procedure to practice in many of those States in which it would not otherwise be authorized to practice.
There are other rules which allow out-of-state attorneys to handle litigation in jurisdictions in which they are not licensed. These rules require obtaining permission from the court where a lawsuit is pending to be admitted "pro hac vice." THE LAWMEN INTERNATIONAL has availed itself of this rule, as well. For example, the firm was admitted to practice before the Mumbai and Chennai Courts in regard to major litigation matters that it successfully handled.
